The recall includes all fixtures with the catalog/model numbers and UPC codes listed above that were manufactured in China between July 1, 2011, and April 1, 2015.

What are the production dates in question?

The recall includes products manufactured between July 1, 2011, and April 1, 2015. Products with a date code between 182 11 and 091 15 are subject to the recall. Date codes are on the product near the ballast. To determine if your fixture is subject to the recall, you may need to remove the lens or ballast cover to see the date code label. What is the hazard associated with this recall?

When relamping the lighting fixture, a consumer may not fully seat the lamp into the socket. If there is insufficient contact between the lamp terminal and the socket contact, under certain conditions, the fixture could arc. If there is enough electrical energy present, the plastic in the sockets could overheat and melt. When installed properly, there is no evidence of a safety risk.

Can this potential issue cause damage to the electrical circuit in the customer’s home or business?

We have received no reports of damage to the electrical circuit.

Is there a potential that the fixture or lamp will explode?

No.

Have there been incidents reported?

We received a small number of reports of potential arcing/overheating, and, as a result, we have decided to recall the product in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. We have received no reports of injury.

Where are these products sold?

At authorized retailers nationwide.

The CPSC press release mentions Portfolio, does this recall impact recessed product at all?

No, only the residential T8 fluorescent products listed above are impacted.
