Course Objectives:
  • Fundamental Considerations - Safety, Equipment Damage, Continuity of Service, Protection vs. Coordination, Review of Fault Calculations, Protective Device Evaluation
  • Related Standards and Codes; ANSI, NEMA, NEC, CEC
  • Protective Devices - Fuses; LV and HV Circuit Breakers, Instrument Transformers, Protective Relays
  • Protection of Apparatus - Cables, Bus, Transformers, Motors, Generators, Capacitors
  • Coordination of Ground Fault Protection Schemes
  • Coordination of Overcurrent Protection Devices - Data Collection, Drawing Coordination Curves, Using Coordination Software, Rules and Techniques
  • Implementation of Study Recommendations
Description: This training program explains the rules and techniques of coordinating protective relays, power fuses and circuit breakers. More than half of the program time is dedicated to practical exercises and reviewing examples developed using popular versions of computer software. Each participant receives a classroom reference manual.
Hotel Reservations and Transporation Students are responsible for making their own arrangements for a sleeping room and transportation. 
Expenses: Lunch will be catered each day at the training location. Students are responsible for all other meal expense as well as their own transportation and lodging expense.
