When guests first walk into the newly constructed Hilton Columbus Downtown, the first thing they notice is the sleek, lavish and high-end atmosphere. But beyond just form, this boutique-like hotel offers function, utilizing a range of energy-efficient technologies to significantly reduce its carbon footprint. One of the biggest impacts in reducing the modern facility’s energy consumption was the strategic use of LED options, including 15-watt Portfolio LED downlights in a plethora of guest room entryways, bedrooms and bathrooms. The result is a total power density of approximately 20 percent less than the energy code and the Portfolio LED downlights are providing 50 percent energy savings relative to a comparable compact fluorescent downlight.
